Brief Introduction:

Yixing Ceramics Museum was developed from the Yixing Exhibition Hall of Ceramic Art. The whole museum has an area of about 20,000 square meters, and the exhibition halls occupy an area of about 3,000 square meters. It is magnificent and functions as a center for the display, research, manufacturing and trade of ceramic art and ceramic ware. It is also designed for tourism. Currently, it is the biggest local-level ceramic museum in China.

It houses more than eight thousand fine ceramic pieces. These masterpieces, on the list of Chinese precious historical and cultural heritage, are of great research and historical importance. They systematically reflect the historical evolution of ceramics in Yixing. The centuries-old culture of ceramic art in Yixing is demonstrated by the display of ceramics of different periods from the New Stone Age to today.

The ceramics museum has about thirteen exhibition halls including the Ancient Ceramics Hall, the Masterpiece Hall, and the Zisha Hall. The Ancient Ceramics Hall exhibits all kinds of ceramics from the period from the Han Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty. There is celadon of the Jin Dynasty and Zishan Pottery of the Song Dynasty.

The most famous piece called He Yi Hui Wen Ping is one of the grade one cultural relics of China. The museum doesn’t only demonstrate the history of ceramic art development in the region, but it also displays pieces with the highest level of art. It reveals the ceramic achievements of craftsmen living in the region of Yixing.

The museum has ten ceramic workrooms. Every year, a group of professional and creative designers such Lu Yaochen who is considered a Master of Chinese Art exhibit their masterpieces here.
