Minister Han Attends the Sierra Leone National Pavilion Day at the World Expo

May 7-Minister Han Changfu, on behalf of China, attended the Sierra Leone National Pavilion Day at the Shanghai World Expo with President Ernest Bai Koroma.

Minister Han chaired at the greeting and national flag raising ceremony for President Koroma, and delivered remarks before he held a short meeting with the President on bilateral relationship and cooperation. The Minister pointed out that Sierra Leone was rich in natural resources with huge potential of development. Its national pavilion at the World Expo is built under the theme of Growth and More Urban Growth , exhibiting the beauty of nature in Sierra Leone, the rapid development of the country s harbors and cities, and the efforts by its people to strive for a better future. Minister Han hoped that the World Expo could serve as a bridge to enhance bilateral understanding and friendship, and to boost bilateral cooperation.

President Koroma also gave high comments on the bilateral friendship, and invited Minister Han to enjoy a performance featuring folk culture in Africa and Sierra Leone. After that, Minister Han hosted a greeting banquet for the President and escorted the President to visit pavilions of China and Africa.

This month, there will be 28 national pavilion days and special days of international organizations. Sierra Leone is the first African country to stage the national pavilion day with the participation of its state leader.
