Three Billion Aquatic Creatures Released for Proliferation

June 6-the Ministry of Agriculture and the Guangdong Provincial Government jointly held the 2010 release for proliferation activity of aquatic creatures in the South China Sea at Yangjiang City. In total, over 5.5 million fry of economic, rare and endangered aquatic creatures including grouper, sea turtle and horseshoe crab were released. On the same day, similar activities were held at another 105 locations in 22 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, releasing three billion aquatic creatures, which constituted a national climax of release. Han Changfu, Minister of Agriculture, pointed out at the release activity in Yangjiang that the conservation of the resource environment of aquatic creatures would benefit the current generation and our children and grandchildren, which would require the participation and effort of the whole society. He hoped that all walks of life would participate in the release for proliferation activity, conserve the resource environment of aquatic creatures, clean up the aquatic environment and increase the number of aquatic creatures, so as to build harmony among aquatic creatures, people and environment.
