Vice Minister Chen Stresses Efforts to Transform Traditional Agriculture with Modern Information Technology

On July 30, Chen Xiaohua, Vice Minister of Agriculture, and Zhang Yuxiang, MOA Chief Economist, made a survey of agricultural and rural information technology construction in Beijing.

Chen Xiaohua said that since China was entering a key period of modern agricultural construction, speeding up the reform of traditional agriculture with modern information technology such as the internet of things and cloud computing was of great importance to the rapid development of modern agriculture. The key to accelerating transformation of agricultural development models is to promote scientific and technological progress, improve the quality of workers, and facilitate managerial innovation, all through agricultural informationization. Modern information technology has been efficiently applied to such areas as innovative promotion patterns of agricultural technology, traceability of quality and safety of agricultural products, application of intelligent agricultural facilities, deploying of agricultural machinery and vessels, emergency management, and provision of market supply and demand information. Consequently, it will help reduce the cost of resource usage, improve the efficiency and level of scientific management, and promote the application of standard, large-scale and integrated patterns of agricultural production and operation.

Principals from the MOA General Office, the Department of Market and Economic Information, and the Information Center, also took part in the survey.

Chen Xiaohua, Vice Minister of Agriculture, is studying the work of agricultural and rural information construction and 221 information platform construction in Beijing.
