Minister Han Changfu Meets with Mah Bow Tan, Singapore's Minister for National Development

On Sept. 7, Han Changfu, Minister of Agriculture, met with Mah Bow Tan, Singapore's Minister for National Development. The two sides exchanged views on the bilateral agricultural exchange and cooperation, progress in the project of specified animal disease free zones in China-Singapore Jilin Food Park,and the cooperation on agricultural product quality and safety.

Han Changfu said that the agricultural trade between the two countries enjoyed good growth momentum; the two countries had conducted productive cooperation within a number of frameworks, such as ASEAN-China (10+1) and ASEAN-China, Japan and ROK (10+3); and positive progress had been made in the project of specified animal disease free zones in China-Singapore Jilin Food Park through joint efforts of the two sides. With great importance attached to the issue of agricultural product quality and safety, the Chinese side was ready to strengthen the exchange and cooperation with the counterpart in terms of risk assessment, inspection and testing, standard formulation and information sharing for agricultural product quality and safety.

Mah Bow Tan supported Minister Han s evaluation of the bilateral agricultural exchange and cooperation and his suggestions for further progress in the project of specified animal disease free zones in China-Singapore Jilin Food Park and the cooperation on agricultural product quality and safety. He said that the Singapore side was willing to enhance the agricultural cooperation with the Chinese side within the frameworks of ASEAN-China and ASEAN-China, Japan and ROK.
