Minister Han Changfu Meets Israeli Minister of Agriculture

On 8 Oct., Han Changfu, Minister of Agriculture, met with an Israeli delegation led by Shalom Simhon, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. The two sides reviewed the agricultural cooperation between China and Israel and exchanged views on further bilateral agricultural exchange and cooperation.

Han Changfu said that the two countries had achieved positive results in the collaboration in a number of fields, including dryland water-saving farming, dairy industry, and agricultural personnel training. The Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) of China was committed to promotion of the bilateral agricultural cooperation and hoped that both sides could increase personnel exchanges, intensify the cooperation in agricultural science and technology, and expand the cooperation fields while ensuring effective implementation of ongoing projects. The Chinese side welcomed investment of leading Israeli agricultural enterprises in China and was also willing to encourage Chinese enterprises to invest in Israel.

Minister Simhon fully supported the recommendations of Minister Han on deeper agricultural cooperation between the two countries and hoped that experts from the two sides could jointly make plans for the future agricultural cooperation.

Both sides summarized the experience in the implementation of China-Israel Agricultural Research Fund since 2000, discussed the ten-year plan for the bilateral agricultural cooperation, and designated the departments responsible for international cooperation of the two ministries as the leading actor in the plan formulation process so as to further expand and deepen such collaboration.
