Vice Minister Niu Dun Meets with Russian and Uzbekistanian Counterparts

On October 26, 2010, the first meeting of agriculture ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was successfully held in Beijing. Niu Dun, Vice Minister of Agriculture, met respectively with Russian and Uzbekistanian counterparts, Chernogorov Alexander L. and Muhiddin Esanov attending this meeting, and exchanged views with them on strengthening the bilateral agricultural cooperation.

Vice Minister Niu expressed his appreciation to Chernogorov Alexander L. and Muhiddin Esanov for their presence at the meeting and their contributions to its successful convening. Both the Russian side and the Uzbekistanian side believed that the success of the meeting had laid a solid foundation for intensifying agricultural exchange and cooperation between SCO s member countries in the future. They also spoke highly of China s efforts in organizing the meeting.

Vice Minister Niu Dun met with the delegation led by Chernogorov Alexander L., Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

As for China-Russia agricultural cooperation, Chernogorov Alexander L. expressed his hope of tightening the bilateral ties with the Chinese side in the fields of crop breeding, multiplication of improved varieties and animal husbandry. Vice Minister Niu agreed with him and suggested that the two sides negotiate an agricultural cooperation document to set up the cooperation mechanisms, considering that the two sides possessed great potential in this field. Chernogorov Alexander L. expressed his agreement to the proposals of the Chinese side.

Vice Minister Niu Dun met with the delegation led by Muhiddin Esanov, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan.

As for China-Uzbekistan agricultural cooperation, Vice Minister Niu called on the two sides to promote exchange and cooperation in the fields of development and training of human resources, agricultural machinery, cotton production and agricultural trade. Muhiddin Esanov agreed to the proposals.
