On 4 March, 2008, a new contract of supply 24 sets 144 type B metro cars for Line 3 of Shenzhen Subway was awarded. The total contract value is 549 million.
Not long before, on 12 January, Shenzhen Subway signed a contract with CNR for 60 type A metro cars for Line 2.
The metro cars will be built by CNR Changchun Railway Vehicle Co., Ltd.
Line 3 will be built for the 26th University Games in 2011. With 4 motor cars and 2 trailers, type B car is a light stainless body car without painting. The maximum speed is 100km/h. The first one will be delivered before 31 August 2009.
