CSR Wins a Wagon Contract for Saudi Arabia, with a worth of Near-hundred-million USD

On April, 7, 2009, a signing ceremony of ore and general wagons contract with a worth of near hundred million USD was held in Ministry of Finance of Saudi Arabia between CSR and SAR Saudi Arabia Railway. A delegation led by Zhao Xiaogang, the chairman of CSR attended to the ceremony.

According to SAR, Saudi government is planning to develop railway infrastructure construction such as the South-north Line and Land Bridge Projects due to the requirement of sustainable development of transportation. In regard to the Northwest Mineral Resources Transport Line under construction and North-south Line Project which intends to upgrade the transport capacity of existing lines, it is planned to build 2400 km new railway lines and purchase outfits such as wagons.

As to the newly signed wagon contract, there are more than ten kinds of railway wagons included, ranging from ore hopper car to general open-top car whose application will largely improve the operation capacity of special wagon transport of SAR. Owing to the harsh desert climate featuring in strong sand and high temperature the highest one reaches 55 , the wagons are requested to own superior technical performance.

Accordingly, CSR will apply various kinds of measures of sand and high temperature resistance in the design of the product in order to make the whole capability matched with the world level.
