MOHURD Officials Inspect Luxembourg Pavilion in World Expo Venue

A Chinese official delegation paid an inspection visit to Luxembourg Pavilion, which was contracted by Shanghai Baoye Construction Corp., Ltd. (SBC-MCC) for World Expo Shanghai on February 24, 2010. The delegation members consisted of: Vice Department Chief Wu Huijuan for Quality & Safety of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD), Chief Liu Jun and Party Secretary Jiang Min of Shanghai Quality Supervision Office.

Mr. Thomas Rohdewald, Curator of the Pavilion, and Executive Vice Manager Gao Yanfeng from World Expo Project Division of SBC-MCC accompanied the delegation during the visit.

Mr. Thomas Rohdewald made a briefing on the design concept of the pavilion and the exhibition program. With an unique "forest and fortress" scene, the pavilion gave an apt description on the image of Luxembourg as the "Green Heart of Europe". In light with the theme of the Shanghai Expo, "Better City Better Life," appropriate architecture and recyclable materials have been employed, so that the Luxembourg Pavilion will turn out to be a wonderful example in terms of sustainable urban development.

With respect to the natural environment, the pavilion will offer a modern and comfortable living pattern to the citizens and the visitors.

Executive Vice Manager Gao Yanfeng gave a brief introduction to the project management and technical innovation in relation with the pavilion. According to Gao, SBC-MCC has attached great importance to the construction of this works. By means of active exploration on project management and technical innovation, valuable experiences have been accumulated during the project execution.

Thanks to the keen concern and essential support extended by all the contractors and all walks of life, the construction work is being drawn to the final stage. The overall completion is anticipated to be realized in the early of March and exhibition preparation work will then be carried out in the pavilion.

The delegation members were deeply impressed by the unique architecture and innovative concept, and place a high premium on the efforts taken by SBC-MCC for organization and management of the project construction, as well as the project quality and safety. They also expected the Luxembourg Pavilion to be smoothly competed for exhibition and make contribution to the friendship between Luxembourg and China.
