Bank of China Held Grand Event to Embrace the National Day for Assisting the Handicapped

BOC associated with Tianjin Sports Bureau and Tianjin Welfare Fund For the Handicapped held a large-scale event to welcome the coming 16th National Day for Assisting the Handicapped on May 20,2006 in Tianjin. As the sole Banking Partner of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, BOC aimed to promote the Olympic spirit and humanitarianism and embrace the Olympic Games with the disabled persons together.

Vice-secretary-general of Tianjin Chen Zongsheng, director of CDPF(China Disabled Persons Federation) Jia Yong, vice president of BOC Zhang Yanling, general manager of BOC Olympic Affairs Department Xu Chen, director of Tianjin Welfare Fund for the Handicapped Huang Xing, deputy director general of Tianjin Sports Bureau Xie Delong, general manager of BOC Tianjin Branch Kang Mei, Ambassador for Beijing's 2008 Olympic bid delegation and 2008 Paralympic Games Sang Lan and a well-known disabled athlete Sun Changting attended this event.

BOC chose true understanding, sincere concern as the theme of this event and hoped to arouse the whole society to show more concern and give more assistance for the disabled persons. On the event, BOC Tianjin Branch donated 100 thousand yuan handicapped equipment for the Tianjin Welfare Fund for the Handicapped. And the staffs of BOC Tianjin Branch also spontaneously donated 71 thousand yuan for the Fund. These donations showed BOC s sincere concern for the disabled persons and strong supports for the cause of the handicapped.

During the event, BOC organized many wonderful and meaningful activities, including: peerless wheelchairs body-building exercises, astounding blind football performance, interaction game and sign language studying which aroused the participants enthusiasm and more understanding for the disabled persons.

Meanwhile, BOC prepared 20 thematic billboards to introduce the knowledge of Olympics and Paralympic Games, the course of the handicapped and the banking services of BOC. Near the end of the event, all the participants signed their beautiful wishes on the thematic wall designed specially for the event.

The charge of Tianjin Disabled Persons Federation said, There are about 400 thousand persons with disabilities in Tianjin, and they need all forces in society to help them face the life. BOC s activities for the disabled are the embodiment of the love and concern of the compatriots. I hope the whole community to pay more attention to the cause of the handicapped, and provide more human care and help for the disabled persons to create better developing conditions and environments.
