Extended Services Beef up the Quality of ICBC World Expo Services

A warm letter was recently published in Shanghai Wenhui Daily. The author, a "post-90s" student Mr. Zhang, mentioned how the ICBC staff in Shanghai Jing'an Kangding Road First Sub-branch worked overtime and helped him all the way to chase back the stolen money. On a day in July, Mr. Zhang went to draw money at the ICBC ATM but carelessly leaving the card behind. 17500 yuan in the card was soon drawn out in just a few minutes. The manager of the sub-branch started two actions once the situation of Mr. Zhang was known. Help was offered to Mr. Zhang to report to the police. Surveillance video was run over again to look for any valuable clue for the police in the shortest span. In less than a month the lost money was returned to Mr. Zhang, who was so thankful that he wrote the thank-you note to send his utmost appreciation on the dedication and wholeheartedness of ICBC staff in serving the customers.

In fact, this kind of "extra" work becomes self-initiatives among the ICBC staff during the Shanghai World Expo period. An executive with ICBC said, being the bank with the most number of outlets in Shanghai, ICBC pulls out all stops to ensure financial services for World Expo. On the other hand ICBC lives up to the banner of Shanghai's World Expo of "better city, better life". ICBC is trying all the best in other extended services such as travel information on World Expo and tips to prevent telecom frauds.

Everyday there are visitors drop by the ICBC outlets located at the core zone of World Expo to ask for information on transportation, restaurants, hotel accommodation and World Expo tickets. The workload is out of the initial expectation. In view of this, ICBC staffs still answer every question from the visitors and offer all the help instead of taking the attitude of "none of my concern".

Some outlets even mobilize the staffs to collect all the information about convenient services. These "extra works" become "internal affairs". Visitors deeply appreciated all the enthusiastic help from ICBC staffs.

Meanwhile, all ICBC outlets take protective measures on the customer money to ensure a safe World Expo. Starting from September last year, 450+ outlets of ICBC Shanghai Branch have joined forces with 339 police stations under Shanghai Public Security Bureau to launch an awareness program on financial frauds.

Brochures are distributed among the community. More than 510 events and activities in the form of salon, seminars or comedy have been held to provide security knowledge, drawing more than 100000 participants (in terms of person-time). The programs play a significant role in increasing the awareness and skills of the customers to better safeguard against financial frauds.

ICBC also steps up its efforts on the outlets to stop and deter financial frauds. The professional and responsive staff teams have been successful in identifying and fending off several cases of financial frauds. They are the front-line wall to protect the safety of the customer money. Unofficial data shows that ICBC Shanghai Branch has blocked over 180 frauds since the opening of World Expo, involving a total of more than 6.

62 million yuan or 75% among the financial peers in Shanghai. ICBC is making her contribution to ensure a peaceful World Expo.
