Write: Edmond [2011-05-20]
On December 11 and 12, eastern section of the Second West-East Gas Pipeline started to be constructed in Luoyang in Henan, Suizhou in Hubei, Jiujiang in Jiangxi, and Guangzhou in Guangdong, respectively.
The Second West-East Gas Pipeline project is divided into the eastern section and the western section from Zhongwei in Ningxia. The eastern trunk, from Zhongwei to Guangzhou, will cover a length of 2,477 kilometers, with designed pressure of 10Mpa. The pipeline is expected to be connected to the Central-Asia Natural Gas Pipeline which is currently under construction by the end of 2009, and put into operation in 2011.
After the Second West-East Gas Pipeline becoming operational, the share of natural gas in China's primary energy consumption will probably be increased by 1-2%. Construction of the Second West-East Gas Pipeline also plays a significant role in boosting the country's domestic demand, facilitating the improvement of China's machinery manufacturing, improving the nation's energy structure, promoting the economic and social development of the adjacent regions and bringing substantial benefits to local people along the pipeline.
