CAE Vice President Xie Kechang Attended the 6th Annual Conference of Cross-Straits Climate Change and Energy Sustainable Development Forum

CAE Vice President Xie Kechang summarized the achievements of the conference in the closing address:

1.The conference further strengthened attendees common understanding of the relationship between climate change and energy sustainable development, as well as their essential importance to human society.

2.The conference deepened the understanding of the delegates from both sides about energy sustainable development strategy and, the efforts and progress that have been made to respond to climate change across the straits.

3.To reach the goal of energy sustainable development and carbon emission reduction, it is extremely important a measure that we take to conduct R & D and promote new technologies helping to reduce emission and conserve energy, as well as low-carbonization exploitation techniques for high-carbon energy forms. That published papers concerning these two fields constitute more than 60 percent of all the papers can act as a telling proof.

4.Scholars should apply the scientific achievements in their specialized areas to the promotion of the low-carbon industry on an expanded scale, along with the transformation from high-carbon to low-carbon industry. Moreover, they are also expected to provide consultation for government policies on how to tackle climate change and energy sustainable development.

5.The conference increased the information exchanges between delegates across the straits in fields like climate change and energy sustainable development, which will exert a positive influence on the popularity of the forum itself.

Great oaks grow from little acorns, and from small beginning come great things. Xie Kechang hoped that more exchanges and cooperation should be conducted among scholars across the straits, so that these actual small contributions made can be accumulated to create a better China. During the conference, conventioneers were also invited to visit and inspect the Coal Chemical Circular Economy Park of Lu An Group and the Coal, Coke and Electricity Ecology Parks of Lu Bao Group.
