BEIJING - China Petroleum and Chemical Corp (Sinopec) produced a record 7 million tons or 140,000 barrels per day of crude oil in its northwest oilfield last year, 6.1 percent more than in 2009.

Natural gas production totaled 1.45 billion cubic metres, up 11.5 percent from 2009, according to a report by the China Petrochemical News, a newspaper run by parent China Petrochemical Corp.

The field, located in Xinjiang, is Sinopec's largest oilfield after Shengli, an aging field in eastern Shandong province, which produced 546,800 barrels per day in 2010, 1.8 percent less than in 2009.
