BEIJING - Chinese Vice-Premier Wang Qishan met with Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of United Parcel Service (UPS) Scott Davis in Beijing Tuesday.

Wang congratulated UPS on its successful development of its business in China.

Referring to China-US economic relations, Wang said the economies of China and the US are interdependent.

He added that both countries gain from cooperation and lose from conflict.

He suggested the two sides enhance communication and boost mutual trust while working to avoid the politicization of economic issues, so as to promote a positive, cooperative and comprehensive China-US relationship in the 21st century.

Davis said UPS hopes to enhance cooperation with China and opposes trade protectionism.

It also aims to promote the sound development of China-US economic relations, he added.
