DESSO, a leading international carpet manufacturer based in the Netherlands, is making significant investment in China, backed up by their next-generation products one that improves room air quality and the other that reduces noise.

DESSO makes carpet ranges for commercial and residential customers worldwide from offices to hospitals, from schools to universities, and from airlines to cruise ships and leading hotels.

"Taken together, we have given carpet new and impressive advantages over existing ranges on the market and other floor covering options," said Alexander Collot d'Escury, the company's Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) in Shanghai, while attending Domotex Asia/Chinafloor 2010 in Shanghai last month.

AirMaster is one of DESSO's next-generation products. It is able to capture fine floating dust from the air up to 8 times more effectively than hard flooring, and 4 times better than ordinary carpeting.

While AirMaster was developed to generally improve interior air quality, it also traps and immobilizes the particles that may potentially cause allergies or exacerbate asthma.

The carpet is based on patented technology that combines a high-low rib structure with both fine and thicker yarn filaments, especially designed to be much more effective in trapping floating air dust than conventional carpets.

As far as cleaning is concerned, Mr. Collot d'Escury said that normal vacuuming was all that was necessary. "The design challenge", Mr. Collot d'Escury commented "was to design a carpet to hold dust firmly, but which would release the particles with a normal cleaning regime".

The cutting-edge technology that AirMaster is based on has led it to be the only existing carpet product in the world certified with a GUI Gold logo.
