Chinese-funded wholesale market opens in Moscow

Write: Pasang [2011-05-20]

A wholesale market jointly funded by China and Russia and selling Chinese goods opened Thursday near the Moscow Ring Road.

Named "Russian Home", the market will trade in goods such as shoes, auto parts and clothes.

Different from the Cherkizovsky Market that was shut down last year, the new market will provide a platform for Chinese businessmen in Russia, with a special focus on providing legitimate procedures on customs clearance, taxation, goods distribution and financing, a Chinese representative of the market told Xinhua.

According to a Russian representative, the market welcomes the participation of Chinese businessmen, as well as those from Vietnam, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia.

As one of the major wholesale markets that Russia developed outside Moscow after the closure of the Cherkizovsky Market, the 70-hectare "Russian Home" has so far attracted 1,100 businesses, including more than 500 Chinese firms.
