As economies around the world begin to recover after the global financial crisis, China is playing an important role in the recovery, and trade exhibitions have become a major part of this.
One example of this is Reed Exhibitions 2010 China Summit , which was held Dec 9 - 10 in Beijing.
Reed Exhibitions Greater China held the annual meeting for executives and experts from its worldwide operations to discuss the economic situation in China currently.
This year's summit, with the theme "unleashing the power within", gave senior executives a good opportunity to get together and discuss China's short and long-term prospects and explore ways to best utilize the business opportunities.
Reed Exhibitions China is associated with the world's largest events organizer, Reed Exhibitions, with 35 offices responsible for over 440 events in 36 countries each year.
Reed Exhibitions is part of the Reed Elsevier Group plc, a FTSE-100 company, world-leading publisher and information provider that operates in three key markets, namely Science and Medical, Legal and Risk Management and Business.
Through over two decades of rapid growth in China, Reed Exhibitions Greater China is now the country's premier events organizer with five outstanding member companies: Reed Exhibitions China, Reed Sinopharm, Reed Huabo, Reed Huaqun and Reed Huayin.
In 2010, events organized by Reed Exhibitions Greater China brought together over 28,000 suppliers, more than 600,000 visitors and 20,000 conference delegates.
Reed Exhibitions Greater China will organize 55 premier events in 2011 serving China's fastest growing specialized sectors, including Aerospace & Aviation, Electronics Manufacturing & Assembly, Machine Tools, Metalworking & industrial Materials, Converting, Pharmaceutical, Medical & Health Care, Gifts & Home, Lifestyle, Travel, Gaming & Property, IT & Telecoms and Security.
Reed Exhibitions Greater China works closely with professional bodies, trade associations and government departments so that each event targets a specific industry and addresses its needs.
"The reason we are such a force in the Chinese exhibition business and in exhibitions worldwide is our unique ability to bring the right people together in the right place, at the right time," said Michael J. Rusbridge, the company's chairman and CEO.
"Reed Exhibitions' development in China has been dynamic since the country is modernizing at such a rapid rate," Rusbridge told China Daily.
"What we do particularly well is not just keep our finger on the pulse of current trends but anticipate changes and sectors that emerge over the short term."
"So, our events are not just places where we shine a light on already established segments, they are also where industry professionals come to learn about new trends and developments."
Partnerships are a key part of Reed Exhibitions Greater China's success and they are expecting to form more joint ventures over the next few years and hold more events, said Rusbridge.
"You will hear about many new launches next year," he said.
Reed's events are arranged by its 35 offices and are held across the United States, Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific area.
