Japan sold 16.813 million kiloliters of oil products in October, or 3.53 million b/d, up 2.8% from a year earlier, preliminary data released Tuesday by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed.

The rise was led by lower sales of gasoil and kerosene.

Sales of all products except jet fuel increased year on year.

Gasoil sales rose 6.3% year on year to 2.89 million kl in November, while gasoline sales grew 3.0% year on year to 4.76 million kl, the data showed.

Kerosene sales also went up 6.1% to 1.95 million kl, helped by lower temperature, but jet fuel sales were 5.7% lower year on year at 0.44 million kl in November.

Meanwhile, imports of oil products jumped 38.5% year on year to 623,659 b/d in November, lifted by a 31.6% jump in naphtha imports to 541,625 b/d. Kerosene imports recorded the biggest jump in terms of percentage, surging to 8,557 b/d in November, up 211.5% from 2,747 b/d a year ago.

Exports of oil products rose 6% year on year to 494,601 b/d in the month, led by increased gasoil and jet fuel exports.
