Bougainville Solicits Investment in Changsha

The International Trade and Investment Promotion Seminar of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (ARB) of Papua New Guinea was held in Changsha on November 6. At the seminar, the government of ARB inked a cooperative agreement on hydropower development with Hunan Hydro & Power Design Institute (HHPDI).

The 35-member delegation, led by the President of ARB John Momis, paid visits to Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and Changsha successively and launched an international trade and investment promotion seminar in each city. Momis hoped that their visits would absorb more investment from China, and the Chinese enterprises would join hands with enterprises in ARB to set up joint ventures to achieve a win-win situation. He also pointed out that the enterprises investing in ARB could enjoy preferential policies on tax.

The HHPDI has already made hydropower design for a power station in the region prior to this seminar, and will also provide such services as design and construction of water conservancy and hydropower projects for ARC according to the agreement.
