Changsha Strives to Be
The working conference on the 15th anniversary of Software Industry Bases of National Torch Program & Innovation and Cooperation Summit of Software Industrialization was convened at Lugu, Changsha on Nov. 27. Du Zhanyuan, vice minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology of PRC and Guo Kailang, vice governor of Hunan Province as well as other leaders and experts attended the opening ceremony.

Since the establishment of the first Software Industry Bases of National Torch Program (a plan to develop new and high technology) in 1995, software industry bases in China has boomed rapidly. In 2009, the aggregate income of the 20,000 odd enterprises in the 35 software industry bases across the country hit 767.7 billion yuan, with an annual average growth rate of nearly 40%.

As the only current national software industry base in central China and the only software industrial park in Hunan, Changsha Software Park pools over 1200 software enterprises and more than 30 large-scale backbone enterprises. The total income of this industry is expected to soar to 20 billion yuan in 2010 and 80 billion yuan in 2015. With the development of software industry base, Changsha is sparing no effort to forge itself into a "famous software city".
