Changsha Tops the City IQ in Central China

After being awarded as the "National Intellectual Property Rights Model City" in 2008, Changsha was once again listed among the first batch of pilot innovative cities, and the only pilot city nationwide on IPR investment & financing service.
On Dec.7, the Changsha Municipal people's Government convened a press conference, on which the White Book on Intellectual Property Rights Protection (2009-2010) in Changsha was released, and Changsha's city IQ index was unveiled, topping among all cities in central China.
According to the white book, up till October of this year, 29,820 items have been granted the intellectual property rights out of the total 54,168 applied. The registered trademarks amounted to 35,127 items, among which 41 are nationally famous and another 256 are provincially well-known.Besides, the number of provincial famous trademarks accounted for half of the total in the province. Currently, Changsha boasts 153 new varieties of plants, of which 69 were granted rights in recent two years. There are also 2 geographical landmarks in Changsha, namely, "ShaPing Hunan Embroidery" and "Liuyang Fireworks". 46 items have been included on the protection list of intangible cultural heritage at all levels.
