Five Central South Provinces Sign to Cooperate for Earthquake Emergency

Heads from the emergency management offices of the five provincial governments including Hubei, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan and Hunan signed an agreement in Changsha on Dec.8, deciding to develop cooperative rescue mechanism whenever earthquake occurs. The provincial leader Tang Zhixiang and the related leaders from China Earthquake Administration and the Emergency Management Office of the State Council attended the signing ceremony.

According to the emergency preplan, once earthquake occurs in any of these five provinces, the governments and the departments concerned of the other four provinces should launch emergency action together. When destructive earthquake attacks, the provincial government where the epicenter is located will take the responsibility to unite organization, command and coordinate emergency work, and when earthquake happens in the border area of two or more provinces, the province with denser population and being more severely damaged should take the charge.
