National Work Conference on Forest Fire Prevention Convened in Changsha

National Work Conference on Forest Fire Prevention in Key Provinces and Regions was convened in Changsha on the morning of Dec.8th.

On behalf of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Hunan Provincial People's Government, Mei Kebao expressed that the conference would play an active role in encouraging and spurring the forest fire prevention work in Hunan.

Hunan ranks fourth in the forest coverage rate across the country, with the forest stock volume totaling 400 million cubic meters.

The CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People's Government have attached great importance to the work of forest fire prevention. Efforts have been exerted to strengthen the promotion of education on forest fire prevention while establishing a sound contingency plan system for it.

Mei pointed out that Hunan Province has achieved three "significant declines" in forest fire prevention this year, namely the declines in the number of forest fires, in the scale of forest fire, and in the loss of woods, which have been respectively decreased by 52.78%, 52.50% and 62.26%. Particularly in the three critical periods of the Spring Festival, Tomb-Sweeping Festival, and the National Day, there is 'zero' fire accident happened in forests, which has ensured a harmonious and stable social order in forest areas.
