Xie Jianhui, deputy secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee met in Changsha with Lin Cangsheng, chairman of Uni-President Enterprises Corporation (UPEC) of Taiwan on December 8.
UPEC is the largest listed food corporation in Taiwan. At present, the corporation has set up more than 50 enterprises in mainland China with a gross investment hitting 2.6 billion USD.
In October 1995, UPSE established the Changsha Branch of Wuhan President Enterprises Food Co., Ltd, whose sales volume reached 350 million yuan in 2009 and is estimated to soar to 445 million yuan in 2010.
UPEC signed an agreement with Kaifu District of Changsha on June 3, 2010 to inject 50 million USD to set up a factory in ShaPing of Kaifu District for drinks and instant noodles production. The project covers an area of 162 mu (10.8 hectares). The total output value is anticipated to hit 800 million yuan to 1 billion yuan, with 400 to 500 million yuan from the first phase. At present, the land is being levelled.
Deputy Secretary Xie stated that UPEC is welcomed to Changsha for investment and Changsha will provide favourable services to its development.
Mr. Xie remarked that efforts should be made to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Taiwan businessmen, Tain-funded enterprises and investment of Taiwan, and promote completion and operation of projects at an earlier date.
