Songya Lake of Changsha Begins Storing Water

Songya Lake of Changsha began storing water on January 20. This marks that the main part of the project of Songya Lake, the largest urban ecological wetland lake with an area of 6,000 mu (400 hectares) in Hunan Province, has been basically completed. Visitors will appreciate the charm of the rippling lake soon.

The project integrates flood control and storage and the security of the city's drinking water. It will play a role in improving the urban ecological environment, perfecting the urban layout and supporting functions and upgrading urban life quality. Covering a total planning area of 16.97 square kilometers, the whole project is scheduled to be completed in three years.

Centering on Songya Lake, the project expands eight green scenic belts from the inside out along four ecological landscape axes. Therefore, an 8-functional project was shaped, including holiday zone along the south bank, darling harbor, the embankment along the left bank, fragrant islet, cultural islet in the front, central business district, green land at the back and ecological city along the north bank.

Upon completion, Songya Lake will become the largest and most gorgeous urban ecological wetland lake in Hunan Province for its distinctive lake scenery. Besides, it will significantly upgrade the values of Changsha County in terms of environment, location, economy and humanities, and serve as a new engine in social and economic development.
