2011 Hunan Spring Festival Concert Staged in Changsha

The 2011 Spring Festival concert of Hunan Province was grandly staged at Hunan Grand Theater on the evening of Jan.25. Such annual concert is jointly organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, the Hunan Cultural Department and the Hunan Provincial Department of Radio Film and Television.
Started with the symphony chorus "In the Shiny Sun", the 90-minute concert presented a selection of classic pieces. The chorus "The Dongting Lake--Land of Fish and Rice" led by Zeng Yong from Beijing Dance Drama and Opera won warm applauses from the audience. Zeng once captured awards at the CCTV National Youth Singing Contest. Liu Xiao who is known as one of China's most outstanding young violinists, performed the violin solo "Morning of Miao Mountain" and "Song of Gipsy".
Yang Gang, a guest tenor from the Song and Dance Ensemble of the PLA Air Force Political Department sang some songs well-known at home and abroad including "Jasmine", "Preclude to the Spring Festival", "Hungarian Dance Melody", "Wine Song" and "Ode to the Motherland". All the performances at the concert are accompanied by the Hunan Provincial Orchestra.
