Weihai exported 45,000 tons of peanuts with a value of USD 75.47 million in 2010, up 11% and 26% respectively compared with the same period of last year, according to Weihai Customs on January 31. The top three overseas markets were Japan, Korea and West Asia regions.

Weihai is the key peanut production area in China, also is one of traditional export-oriented bases of Shandong peanut. At present, Weihai has 24 peanut products with green food certification, 11 products with organic food symbol and 6 peanut products with organic food certification by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan.

Weihai exported 44.754 thousand tons of peanut products in general trade last year, a year-on-year increase of 10%, accounting for 98.9% of the total peanuts export. Of which collective-owned enterprises and private-owned enterprises exported 14,799 tons and 14,196 tons of peanut products, up 6% and 38% over the same period of last year.

Japan, Korea and West Asia were dominant in export destinations of Weihai s peanuts. Weihai exported 36,200 tons to Japan, and 4,637 tons to Korea, and 2,525 tons to West Asia in 2010, accounting for 96.9% of the total export volume.
