The 4th Parachute Games opens

The Parachute Games of the 4th All-China Games opened in Fuyang, Anhui province, on May 8, 2010, drawing some 230 participants from 11 delegations around China.

The Games, a pageant for China s non-Olympic sport events, will start in May in the capital Hefei and Fuyang will also play host. The event, which is to last for seven days, is divided into four categories: stunt jump, accuracy jump, figure parachuting and relative work.

More than 5,000 spectators swarmed to the Fuyang Sports Center to view the opening ceremony, which started at 8:30 am on Saturday.

Outside the sports center, about 100,000 city dwellers stood along the streets to cheer for the grand event.
