In Taipei's Zhongshan Square, a ceremony has been held to celebrate Guangdong Week in Taiwan and to welcome 2000 Guangdong travellers to the island.

Huang Huahua, Governor of Guangdong Province, and Lai Se-Zhen, Director of Taiwan's Tourism Bureau attended the ceremony. Huang Huahua said that since charter flights began between the two places, communication between Guangdong and Taiwan has improved.

In 2009, 125 thousand Guangdong tourists visited Taiwan, accounting for one-fifth of the mainland's total number. And the figure may surpass 180 thousand this year. Huang said the two sides' tourism sectors are quite complementary, and hoped cooperation could be deepened.
