Dongguan-Huizhou Expressway, the first high-speed road between Dongguan City and Huizhou city is to open for traffic as of January 26, 2010. From then on, it will take only half an hour from Dongguan to the downtown of Huizhou City.
The Dongguan section of the expressway is called Hugang Highway has been in operation since September 28, 2009, while the Huizhou section is to be opened tomorrow.
A budget of 3.22 billion yuan has been invested in the 49.078 kilometers long and dual 3-lane expressway. Huizhou section starts from Huidong County, passes through Huiyang district and Huicheng District of Huizhou and connects with Dongguan in Lilin town of Huizhou.
In future, the Dongguan-Huizhou Expressway will be extended to Eastern Guangdong and eventually become an interprovincial expressway connecting Guangdong with Fujian Province.
