Lishui held the first commendation meeting for arts and crafts masters on 27th January, with Yu Hongming, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Lishui Municipal Committee, Vice Mayor Cai Xiaohua and Wu Bingquan, Vice Chairman of Lishui CPPCC in attendance.
In 2009, our city carried out the first evaluation for the title of arts and crafts masters. A total of 238 people applied for the title of arts and crafts masters in the whole city. After reexamination and public review, 117 people were qualified as Lishui arts and crafts masters, among whom 40 people specialized in celadon, 12 specialized in swords, 55 specialized in stone carving, 3 specialized in toys designing, 4 specialized in root carving, 2 specialized in black pottery and 1 specialized in bamboo waving.

Many new talents have emerged in arts and crafts industry in recent years, constantly bringing forth new ideas and creations, therefore, the development of arts and crafts industry shows a favorable trend. Till the end of 2009, there were more than 3,000 enterprises in arts and crafts industry in Lishui, 1 arts and crafts school, 2 professional stone carving markets and 1 stone carving museum. 11 types were qualified as national arts and crafts, occupying 9 percent in Zhejiang province. 5 types were acknowledged as provincial traditional arts and crafts, occupying 11.9 percent in Zhejiang province. Nearly 70,000 people devoted to arts and crafts industry in Lishui, among whom 10 people were state-level masters, 30 were province-level masters, occupying 27 percent and 32 percent respectively in Zhejiang province. There were celadon, sword and wooden toy centers, with their gross industrial output reaching 2.5 billion yuan. Arts and crafts industry has become a new source of regional economic growth in Lishui.
