In recent days, the scientific expedition from Committee of China (Linyi) Meteorites Culture Exchange Conference went to two meteorites fall areas in Xiatan Village and Yanglou Village of Qingyuan County for scientific investigation. They initially determined the region is a meteorites fall area mainly of stony-iron meteorites. Discovered in this region, Qingyuan No. 1, which is the largest stony meteorite of documented individual stone nationally and internationally, weighing 2,180 kg, is even heavier than Jilin No. 1 discovered in 1976, weighing 1770 kg. The discovery of meteorites fall area in Qingyuan County will not only fill a gap of meteorites fall area in Zhejiang Province, but also be expected to rewrite the historic weight record of individual stony meteorite in the world.
