On the afternoon of November 11, the Second Conference of Lishui Overseas Chinese was held in Lishui Theater.
Zhou Tienong, Vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People s Congress of the People s Republic of China declared the conference open. Zhao Hong, general secretary of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and director of the Standing Committee of the People s Congress of Zhejiang Province, sent a congratulatory message to the conference. The deputy-director of the Standing Committee of the People s Congress of Zhejiang Province Liu Qi, the director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Zhejiang Province Wang Xiaofeng, and the director of the Returned Overseas Chinese Federation of Zhejiang Province Wu Jing were present at the conference. Member of the Party Leadership Group of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council Xiong Changliang, the vice-chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese Zhu Yilong, and the vice head of the United Front Work Department of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee Xu Jianhua gave their speeches respectively. The conference was hosted by the vice general secretary of Lishui Municipal Party Committee and mayor of Lishui City Lu Ziyue, and the general secretary of Lishui Municipal Party Committee Chen Ronggao extended his warmest welcome to the honorable guests.

Chen Ronggao extended his warmest welcome to all guests: Since the First Conference of Lishui Overseas Chinese was successfully held five years ago, we have given full play to our advantage of being a city rich in overseas Chinese resources , implemented the project of back-flow of overseas Chinese elements in depth, and tried our best to create favorable conditions for returned overseas Chinese to make investment and start their businesses in Lishui; and numerous overseas Chinese originating in Lishui City, who have always assumed it as their own duty and worked side-by-side with local people to promote their hometown s development, have made irreplaceable contribution to the construction of an all-round well-off and modernized Lishui City.
A representative of overseas Chinese, Guo Shenghua, read out the proposal of the conference. Rao Jiren, on behalf of overseas experts and scholars, and Yan Zhizhao, on behalf of those prize-winning overseas Chinese, gave their speeches respectively.
At the conference, Chen Ronggao unveiled the nameplate for Overseas Chinese College of Lishui University, which has been established under the joint efforts of the United Front Word of Lishui Municipal Party Committee, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Lishui City, the People s Government of Qingtian County and Lishui University.
At the conference, awards were granted to the top 10 fine projects invested by overseas Chinese , top 10 outstanding enterprises invested by overseas Chinese and top 10 representatives of overseas Chinese who have contributed to promoting the construction of new countryside . And then contracts on some projects invested by overseas Chinese were signed.
Those who attended the opening ceremony of conference included leaders of related central, provincial and municipal departments, domestic and overseas experts and scholars in related fields, representatives of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, directors of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Hangzhou, Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Ningbo and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Wenzhou, previous and current chairmen of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Lishui and of the Returned Overseas Chinese Federation of Lishui, general secretaries of various county (municipal or district) Party committees, heads of various counties (cities or district) in charge of overseas Chinese affairs, and 210 overseas Chinese from 46 countries and regions.
