Mountain Villages in Qingyuan Busy Preparing for Lantern Festival

The Lantern Festival is approaching and people are looking forward to the feast- colorful festive lanterns. These days, in Basan Village, Pingdu Town, Qingyuan County, almost all the villagers, men and women, young and old, are busy making various lanterns, so that visitors from various places can feast their eyes.
This year is a special year for Pingdu: for one thing, the planning of a new town will be made; for another, the pre-selection of a railway station is awaiting approval. Therefore, this year s festival is to celebrate the development of the new town and the project to lead the railway line in, which will be a happy longing cherished by local residents for the year.
In preparation for the festival, the village established an organizing group . These days, the villagers spontaneously came very early in the morning to rush out the lanterns.
Colored paper as gaudy covers, green branches as dainty bones, within a few days a whole courtyard was spread with various colorful lanterns: carps jumping over the dragon gate, twin dragons playing the ball, lions, the twelve Chinese horoscope animals, and so on. The well-decorated floats began to take shape as well.
To make the festival more mirthful and the lanterns more appealing, they not only increased the number of floats and lanterns, but also purchased a nearly 20-meter long and over 10,000 yuan worth of golden dragon. Right now, the dragon dance team is busy rehearsing; the golden-scaled shinning dragon, which is not only covered by colored lights but also fitted with a flame thrower in its mouth, will presumably be very eye-catching.
It is learned that this grand exhibition of lanterns will begin at 7 pm on the very day of the festival and some other teams from different towns and villages will join in on the march, staging a wonderful visual feast for visitors together.
