The Govrenment Hill Park on the List of National Key Parks

Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MHURD) hold the horizontal- board giving ceremony for the national key parks in Jinan, Shandong on Septermber 22nd. Only two of the parks in Zhejiang Province, the Government Hill Park in Quzhou and Lotus Village Park in Huzhou were granted the special honour. The head of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Jiang Weixin, and the deputy minister, Qiu Baoxing awarded the horizontal board written in National Key Park to 46 parks includes the Summer Palace in Beijing, the Humble Administrator s Garden in Suzhou, the Yellow Crane Tower Park in Wuhan, and the Government Hill Park in Quzhou.
In order to protect the parks, MHURD have been engaged in selecting the national key parks since 2007. Those acquire high reputation and historical and ecological value, and play the role of model or representative parks for a certain time have been applied by the municipal and provincial government for the MHURD to be approved.
The Governmen Hill is the cradle of Quzhou, and is where the government lies on during the time from Tang Dynasty to the years of Republic of China. The park was firstly built in 1927, and named as the Government Hill Park in 1957. Till now, it has extends as far as 180 000 m2, which covers the whole Government Hill, and serves as the largest resting and entertainment park for its rich humanism and ecological scenery, such as the traces of Southern descendants of Confucious, the bridges and river uniquely in the south of the Yangtze river, and the dense city forest.
