Labor scarcity before the Spring Festival in Zhejiang this year has appeared about one month earlier than previous years. According to the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Zhejiang Province, the labor scarcity problem will get worse before and after the coming Spring Festival as a large number of migrant workers return home for the holiday.
At present, the labor scarcity problem is most obvious in labor-intensive sectors and enterprises. The most needed are the skilled workers of manufacturing, workers in relatively high-tech industries such as mechanic and electronic industry, and service workers.
This labor scarcity is a result of multiple factors such as the increasing need for more workers, the sharp decline of labor supplies, the unsatisfactorily low pay of some job offers, and the mismatch between the skills and qualities of job applicants and the requirements of the enterprises.
