Shanghai and Hangzhou Join Hands in European Porcelain Exhibition

Hangzhou History Museum joined hands with Shanghai History Museum to host the exhibition entitled Eastern Style Spreading Westward C Shanghai History Museum Collection of European Porcelain on November 10. The four chapters of the exhibition, namely Spreading, Integration, Innovation and Development, reproduce the process of development and evolution of European porcelain under the influence of Chinese porcelain.

The exhibition displays 175 pieces of royal porcelain C French Sevres, British Wedgewood and German Meissener, and the best of folk porcelain. Listed among the exhibits are Meissener s Blue Onion series, which are a mixture of the flowers and fruits as painted on Chinese porcelain, jasper invented by Wedgewood, Father of British porcelain, and German Dresden which revives the Rococo style.
