Hangzhou-made Animated Films Contend for Oscar

Write: Curtis [2011-05-20]

On Nov. 16, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced a list of 15 animated features that had been accepted for consideration in the Animated Feature Film category for the 83rd Academy Awards, of which 3 will be nominated. It is delightful that the list includes a Hangzhou-made animated film, The Dreams of Jinsha , together with Toy Story 3 and How to Train Your Dragon .

It took Hangzhou C&L Digital Production Co. Ltd five years to finish The Dreams of Jinsha at a cost of tens of millions of Yuan. Shown publicly in July this year, the film tells of a young boy named Xiao Long who accidentally travels back in time to Jinsha kingdom 3,500 years ago, saves the kingdom from disaster, and attains personal growth. The beautiful scenery of Hangzhou could often be seen in the film.
