The Zhejiang Private Enterprises Prosperity Index Released

Write: Gilana [2011-05-20]

The Zhejiang Private Enterprises Prosperity Index (ZEPI), the first in China to reflect the overall status of the private sectors, was issued at the 8th Summit of the Chinese Private Enterprises on November 27.

ZEPI, modeling on the international Composite Index, was generated on the basis of the official statistics collected by the Zhejiang Industrial and Business Bureau coupled with a sample survey and the representative economic indicators of some relevant departments. It measures the operation and development status of the private enterprises from four different dimensions: survival state, operational trend, developmental attitude and environmental ecology, and with three major indicators: entrepreneurs confidence, newly-established enterprises and investment.

Up to the third quarter of 2010, ZEPI has reached 121.25 points, hitting the record high since the fourth quarter of 2007. Dr. Yao Jun, deputy director of the Information Office of the Zhejiang Industrial and Business Bureau, said ZEPI had been continuously rising, indicating that Zhejiang private enterprises had emerged from the economic doldrums after two years of global financial crisis.
