The 2nd China Yue Opera Festival came to end in Shenzhou on the evening of November 28. With the theme of "A Grand Gathering for Yue Opera and a Festival for the Masses", the festival successfully launched 14 major activities. Meanwhile, the host cities of Ningbo and Shenzhou organized a diversity of mass cultural activities, making the most of their regional features and advantages and bringing out the best combination of the professional art and the mass culture.
During this month-long festival, 22 professional Yue Opera troupes from Fujian, Jiangsu, Shanghai and Zhejiang staged their 22 shows with 42 excellent plays. In addition, there were nearly 10 other activities, including the summit forum on Yue Opera and City Culture , exhibitions, academic seminars, essay contests, exchange programs and so on. There were over 30 square shows as well as 60 Yue Opera activites on campuses, in communities, in enterprises and in rural areas. During the festival, more than 4, 000 cast and crew members performed in various exhibitions and shows and over 6, 000 guests from home and abroad attended various activities, attracting over 500,000 spectators.
