The first batch of concentrated tea juice weighing 50 kilograms with the value of 3175 dollars was exported to South Korea at the end of November after having passed the inspection of Shaoxing Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. It was told by the bureau that as the high-processed tea products this batch of concentrated tea juice at the export price of 60 dollars per kilogram was exported from Shaoxing for the first time.
In China the high-processed tea products have great potential for development with approximately one-third of the output value of the tea industry created from only 6% of the tea resources, said the related person-in-charge from Shaoxing Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. The concentrated tea juice, tea polyphenols are all further processed products, the prices of which have increased over ten times.
Shaoxing is the largest tea export production base in China, accounting for one third of the country tea exports. It s learned that there are currently over 20 tea export industries in Shaoxing, with a total amount of 90 thousand tons of tea export last year. However, most of the tea exported from Shaoxing is mainly green tea in bulk, such as meetea, gunpowder tea, with an increasing number of export tea products but low industry profits. Not many high-processed tea products with high added-value have been exported abroad.
