Nowadays, energy consumption of Zhejiang land and water transport accounts for 5.85% of the whole energy consumption of the society, much lower than the average national level of 7.6%. This was learnt from the On-the-Spot Provincial Meeting on the Construction of Eco-traffic for Land and Water Transportation held in Jiaxing on Dec.7.
During the Eleventh Five-Year Plan, in order to build resources-saving and environment-friendly industry, communication and transportation sectors have made great efforts to construct a province strong in ports and shipping and give play to the superiority in water transport; have actively promoted traffic logistics and increased transportation efficiency; have popularized technology of energy conservation and emission reduction and improved management pattern; have launched the construction of demonstration projects, created a nice environment and achieved remarkable success.
