On Jan. 11, the annual Zhejiang Provincial Conditions Briefing along with New Year s Reception was held in Shanghai by the Department of Foreign Affairs of Zhejiang Province. A total of 159 distinguished guests were present, including 31 consuls general and visa officers from 55 countries such as America, Russa, France, Japan, Australia, Canada, etc. and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, as well as representatives of Zhejiang s sister cities in Shanghai.
At the reception, Ruan Zhongxun, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Zhejiang Province introduced in detail Zhejiang s economic and social development in 2010, especially the main achievements owing to the opening-up policy. Deputy Mayor Xu Mingguang vigorously promoted Shaoxing, the host city of the serial activity Welcoming Embassies & Consulates to Zhejiang this year, and hospitably sent out Letters of Invitation which read Welcome to Shaoxing .
