On Feb. 9, the first day for work after the Spring Festival, a vigorous mass tree-planting campaign unfolded in Zhejiang. Preliminary statistics from Zhejiang Provincial Department of Forestry indicates in one single day, 112,000 participants planted a total of 420,000 trees of various kinds, most of which are for key shelter belts, Passageway greening, and greening of cities, towns and villages.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of national voluntary tree-planting campaign. For the past 3 decades, altogether 400 million people participated in the campaign and planted 1,500 million trees, with an average of about every one of fourteen woodlands planted by volunteers.
It is learned that it ll be a fixed system in Zhejiang to organize tree-planting on the first day after Spring Festival.
