Zhejiang Province is located in the southeast coast of China, typhoons, floods and other natural disasters are thus frequent. In order to provide a more timely and effective solution to the sudden and temporary living difficulties encountered by the urban and rural residents, Zhejiang has introduced temporary relief measures. From February 7, 2011 on, for the families with members suffering from critical illnesses or injuries from drowning, fire and traffic accidents, if they, after receiving all kinds of compensations, insurances and other helps, are still shouldering a heavy financial burden and are unable to fulfill basic living needs, they can apply for a one-time assistance; and the unsheltered families with a heavy financial burden due to fires and other emergency incidences, can be granted house-building subsidies.
