Lingshan Ruins Found in Taizhou

After more than three months rescuing excavation by Luqiao District, Taizhou, remains of late Hemudu Culture Lingshan Ruins has gradually lifted its mysterious veil, and the cultural origin of Taizhou coastal areas can be traced back from Shang and Zhou Dynasties to Late Hemudu Culture, about 2000 years earlier.

Lingshan ruins are located under the eastern slope of Lingshan mountain near Lingshan street in Luqiao District. Trial excavation shows that it has the features of Late Hemudu Culture in that its village-type sites had been extended from prehistoric times to Shang and Zhou dynasties. In Luqiao Museum, we can appreciate the treasures from the trial excavation.

Among these artifacts, there are large numbers of small pieces of muddy, sand-mixed and charcoal-mixed potteries, a small number of stamped pottery fragments and proto-porcelain fragments as well as ground stone implements such as stone adzes, stone arrowheads and stone dagger-axes.
