According to a recent joint notice issued by 18 ministries and commissions, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Environmental Protection, backward industrial production capacity in non-ferrous metal, chemical engineering and textiles will be closed down this year.
Last year, the elimination of backward production capacity involved a total of 180 enterprises in 6 industries, including steel, cement grinding, synthetic leather, paper-making, dyeing and synthetic fiber. It is reported that all the cities in Zhejiang are currently screening every relevant enterprise in line with criteria concerning the elimination of backward production capacity in various industries.
