According to the municipal transport management department in Hangzhou, a new batch of 400 taxis will be put into operation from next month. All of them will be equipped with monitoring systems, which is estimated to be completed in June.
At present, taxis are furnished with monitoring systems in such cities as Shenyang and Xiamen, and they are quite well-operated. It is introduced by Mr. Wu Zhongliang, head of the Taxi Management Office of Hangzhou Transport Management Bureau, that the purpose of the installation of monitoring systems is to improve taxi services in Hangzhou and protect the legal rights of passengers. It is up to taxi companies instead of taxi drivers to pay for installing video monitoring systems.
